Can the flow of concentrated sulfuric acid be measured with an electromagnetic flowmeter?
Can the flow of concentrated sulfuric acid be measured with an electromagnetic flowmeter?
The answer is yes.
Under normal circumstances, an electromagnetic flowmeter(mag flowmeter) can be used for 98% concentrated sulfuric acid. There is no problem in choosing Tantalum electrodes and PTFE liners. An electromagnetic flowmeter(magmeter) is an inductive instrument that measures the volume flow of conductive media in a pipe based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. It can be applied to the flow measurement of concentrated sulfuric acid, but it should be noted that appropriate electrodes and lining materials must be selected during the measurement process.
When choosing an electromagnetic flowmeter(emf) for concentrated sulfuric acid, you need to consider the following points:
1.Electrode material: Concentrated sulfuric acid is highly corrosive, so corrosion-resistant electrode materials need to be selected, such as tantalum, platinum-iridium alloy, etc.
2. Lining material: In order to protect the electrode and improve the measurement accuracy, it is necessary to select materials that are resistant to sulfuric acid corrosion on the lining of the magnetic flowmeter, such as polyethylene (PTFE), polyethylene (FEP), etc.
3. Protection class: Since concentrated sulfuric acid is highly corrosive, the protection level of the electromagnetic flowmeter should meet higher requirements to ensure the safe operation of the meter.
4. Functional requirements: According to the actual application scenario, choose an electromagnetic flowmeter with corresponding functions, such as remote monitoring, data recording, alarm, etc.
